Kraken Opens Trading for Frankencoin’s ZCHF Stablecoin as of October 8, 2026

Kraken has made Frankencoin’s ZCHF available for trading as of October 8, 2026, giving exchange users a route to a decentralized, over-collateralized stablecoin that tracks the value of the Swiss franc. The listing covers deposit, trading and product information for ZCHF, while Kraken said Kraken App and Instant Buy access will come only when market liquidity is sufficient, and geographic restrictions may apply.

Funding and network limits come first

To add ZCHF to a Kraken account, users must navigate to Funding, select the asset and choose Deposit. Kraken’s notice stresses that tokens must be deposited into networks supported by Kraken, and deposits made using other networks will be lost. This network-selection warning is one of the most immediate practical risks for anyone moving ZCHF onto the exchange.

What ZCHF actually is

Frankencoin’s ZCHF is a decentralized, over-collateralized stablecoin tracking the Swiss franc. Rather than holding fiat reserves with a custodian, ZCHF is created when users deposit approved crypto collateral into on-chain positions and mint against it, then burned when those positions are repaid. Each unit in circulation is backed by on-chain collateral worth at least one Swiss franc.

Borrowers pay a fixed rate of interest upfront for a term they select, which makes minting function as an on-chain lombard loan denominated in Swiss francs. Holders can deposit ZCHF into the protocol’s savings module, an ERC-4626 vault that pays a variable rate funded by borrower fees and set through governance. ZCHF launched on Ethereum mainnet in 2023 as an ERC-20 token and is also deployed on Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Gnosis, Optimism, Polygon and Sonic through a Chainlink CCIP bridge.

What the listing changes for users

The listing places a Swiss franc-linked stablecoin inside a Kraken account, where users can trade it after depositing supported-network tokens. For readers, the incremental information is where ZCHF differs from fiat-reserve stablecoins: its value is backed by on-chain collateral rather than custodied franc balances. The delayed availability of Kraken App and Instant Buy also means early access may depend on whether enough buyers and sellers have entered the market for orders to be efficiently matched.

Kraken’s next listings remain undisclosed

Kraken said it will make more assets available, but its policy is to reveal no details until shortly before launch, including which assets it is considering. All of Kraken’s available tokens can be found on the exchange’s available assets page, and all future tokens will be announced on its Listings Roadmap and social media profiles. Kraken’s client engagement specialists cannot answer questions about which assets may be made available in the future.
